Samsung first unveiled their 55" OLED TVs at CES 2012. They still haven't released those yet (hopefully they will release them soon), and now SmartHouse claims that Samsung is set to unveil new OLED TVs at CES 2013 (January 8, in Las Vegas).
According to SmartPhone, Philip Newton, the Director of AV for Samsung Australia, said that those new OLED TVs to be launched in CES will be "stunning". I saw Samsung's current OLED TVs at SID 2012, and I have to say they are pretty Stunning as it is.

OLED monitors will be terrific. But I think the whole idea is to establish Samsung 'superior technology' image and so they'll want to go after the high-end TV market. But I'm sure that sooner or later we'll be able to buy OLED monitors...
I tend to think that smaller OLED monitors that are really available on the market are much better than high-end TVs that are not available at all and exist only on paper and electronic shows for years.
I kinda doubt that would work. Even a smaller OLED TV would still sell at a much higher price than a current LCD TV with LED backlight. So any OLED TV would by neccessity have to aim at the premium market. Now in principle yes you are right the picture of the OLED will be better, but I'm not sure that would be enough in terms of a sales pitch. Because lets face it: Those people who are willing to pay a premium for this also expect a large display. I guess it doesn't neccesarily have to be 55", but anything below 50" will probably be a tough sale given the price.
Now the question is: Would a reduction of 5" raise the yield enough to make this worthwhile? I don't know, but in our "bigger is better" world I certainly don't expect Samsung to come out with a smaller size TV at this point...
50-55" is not too suitable size for using as a monitor, isn't it? ;-) 20-27" is much more suitable and potentially much cheaper than 50-55".
Most people definitely wouldn't afford to spend $10000 for a 55" TV at all, but they certainly could consider paying $2000 for really quality OLED monitor that would potentially save their eyes after 15 years of ever-flickering LCD sufferings.
Maybe new models will have smaller screen-sizes and therefore will be much more affordable than 55" models? — due to not just smaller size, but thanks to much bigger yield. Having 20-24" OLED displays suitable for using as quality monitors without VCOM flickering (it turns out that latter is typical for all LCD displays) would be great.
