LG's now shipping their 4K 65" OLED TVs in the US

LG's first 4K OLED TV, the 65" 65EC9700, is now shipping in the US - for $9,999. The 77" 77EC9800 will also launch soon, and you can already pre-order it for $24,999.

LG's official price for the 65" OLED TV is indeed $10,000 - but I assumed the real price will be lower. The 55" Full-HD 55EC9300 is still listed as $6,999 while it is being offered for $3,499 or even less). There were also reports that the real price for the 65" will be around $6,250. Cleveland Plasma for example lists the TV for $8,250 - but they are not shipping it yet.

LG's 65EC9700, offers a 65" curved panel, 4K resolution (3840x2160), LG's High Dynamic Range (HDR) algorithm, the True 4K Engine Pro (to upscale SD, HD and FHD content to 4K) and support for H.264 and HEVC H.265 formats (30p and 60p). The TV also supports automatic color temperature control for individual pixels via LG's Color Refiner.

Does this mean that the tv will have some kind of burn-in correction? if so, with an approach like that of Ignis?

Marco, can you point to a source about the burn-in correction used by LG?

Hi,

I've just found that this dream-TV seems to.

That's even less expensive than a Samsung 4K 3D curved... LCD !!

I hope that's not a mistake and that it will ship soon (they say 2-6 weeks).

This seems to be a mistake, I can't imagine that the price in the US is $9,999 while it is $3,500 in Switzerland! I'll try and contact the suppliers.

Well, don't give them ideas ;) $3,500 is fine for me ^^

You can also preorder for $5,200... More expensive, but still far less than $9,999 :D

By the way, do you know if there is any difference between 65EC9700 and 65EC970V ? Or is it just two different references for the same TV ?

The 970V is just the European model number. This is the same TV. Very strange, let's see how this plays out ;-)

"The TV also supports automatic color temperature control for individual pixels via LG's Color Refiner." Automatic color temperature control for individual pixels seems like it. At least, it's a way to have a more uniform screen from the start, but it could be used for ageing screens as well.

Hello again. I just got word from one the Swiss suppliers. They stand by the 3,440 CHF price (but they do not know when they will have it shipped, as currently the supplier is out of stock). Interesting!

I'm actually not sure as to what is meant by that color refiner. You may be right, I'll try to talk with LG to clarify this.

That's a good news, thank you !

I've seen that the price has already changed to 3,670 CHF, but maybe the reason is the daily conversion rate $-CHF-€-£-wons...

The 2nd Swiss supplier I talked to also confirmed the price. This is very strange, I still think it's most likely an error (maybe the local LG Distributor got it wrong). I posted an article on this anyway, this is interesting to watch.
