GPEG (a UK based display reseller) has released a new green-monochrome 5.5" (ultra-wide) PMOLED module, the FD025664. The display features 256x64 resolution, 2000:1 contrast, 160 degrees viewing angle and 120 cd/m2 brightness.
The display is aimed towards DAB radios, and GPEG says they can change the color to yellow or white for high volume applications.
Samsung Mobile Displays announced a new AMOLED panel, with WVGA (800x480) resolution at 300 PPI. SMD says that the new panel will be shipping in 2009.
SMD claims the new AMOLED has 4 times the clarity of their current displays and has a 40% increase in power efficiency (although it's not clear, they might mean 40% decrease in power consumption compared to an LCD panel...).
OSD is releasing a new 5.5" 256-64 PMOLED display - which is a monochrome green graycale panel (16 levels of grayscale).
OSD 5664ASGGF01The display features the Solomon Systech driver IC that supports 8-bit 6800/8080 Parallel or 3-/4-wire SPI data interface. Overall panel size is 146.0mm(H) x 45.0mm(V) x1.6mm(D). Viewing area is 135.65mm(H) x 33.89mm(V) mm. The OSD Displays OLED panel offers 120cd/m2 typical brithness, 160 degrees vieweing angle) and high contrast ratio (>2000:1), over a wide temperature range from -30C to +70C with less than 500mW typical power consumption.
A few months ago OSD released the 4.3" AMOLED by CMEL. now we got a short video clip showing this display:
The resolution is 480x272 and the contrast ratio is 10,000:1. The panel is now available, contact us for details.
OSD announces the release of its new OSD0283AMQV-T 2.8 inch diagonal QVGA Active Matrix Organic LED (AMOLED) module. This new full color module has an increased lifetime rating that is now over 30k hours. This highly configurable display module supports multiple interface types; 18-/16-/6-bit RGB (DCLK,VSYNC,HSYNC,DE), Intel/Motorola MPU 18-/16-/9-/8-bit bus interface.

The module has an overall size of 49.1 x 67.7 x 1.85mm. The 43.2 x 57.6mm active area supports a resolution of 240 x RGB x 320 with up to 262k colors.

The panel is 7.6 800 x 480 Active Matrix OLED. It boasts a temperature independent response time of less than 50us across its entire operating temperature range. The module’s contrast ratio is better than 10000:1 and is not affected by viewing angle limitations. The emissive nature of the AMOLED panel does not suffer from gray scale inversion as TFT-LCD technology often does.
The module has a LVDS display data interface and a SPI control interface. It has overall dimensions 177.30mm (W) x 118.32mm (H) x 5.6mm (D) with an. active area of 165.60mm (W) x 99.36mm (H).

OSD announces the release of its new OSD0430WQLC-T a 4.3 inch diagonal WVGA Active Matrix Organic LED (AMOLED) module. This new full color module supports up to 16 million colors with a 24-bit parallel RGB interface. It also can support an 8-bit RGB serial interface.
The module has an overall size of 102.4 x 65.6 x 1.6mm. The 95.04 x 53.85mm active area supports a resolution of 480x272.
The new Active Matrix drive scheme offers many advantages over the previous Passive Matrix (PMOLED) drive scheme. Compared to full color PMOLEDs, Active Matrix OLEDs can achieve higher typical luminance (200 cd/m2 vs. 90 cd/m2), a better contrast ratio (10000:1 vs. 1000:1). and have lower overall power consumption
AMOLEDs also feature 170 degree viewing angles and temperature independent response time of less than 50uS. The fast response time coupled with frame rates of 60Hz allows flicker free images over the entire operating temperature range.

We've just got word from an OLED world-wide reseller that we're in touch with - and they got 7.6" AMOLED panels (CMEL) on sale - in fact they are shipping evaluation samples. The displays go 16:9 aspect ratio,
800x480 resolution and white to black contrast ratio of 30,000:1.

In July 2008, I had the chance of interviewing Elijah Ebo, manager of product division at Densitron. Densitron has been in the displays industry for over 30 years and is well known for offering custom display and complete product design. The company sold the other 2 division it had, gaming and Digital signage, a couple of years ago and the management decided to re-focus on displays.
Elijah got his degree in Surrey University, and worked at Vertu (Nokia's luxury mobile phone brand) and at Philips before joining Densitron, to be the Product Division manager - managing a team of technical display experts at Densitron and supporting design activities with their customers.
RiTDisplay has developed passive-matrix OLED touch panels. The panels come in 3 sizes (1.1", 1.8", 3.1"), and are ready for production.
The new panels use STMicro's controller ICs.
