Winstar releases new PMOLED displays

Winstar has released a series of new PMOLED displays which include character displays (8x2, 12x2, 20x4) and graphic displays (50x16, 76x16, 100x32). These have the same size and pin-outs like Winstar existing LCD displays, so you can easily change from LCD to OLEDs.

Winstar provides these displays with or without polarizer (with polarizer they achieve a contrast ratio of 2000:1).

OSD releases a new low-cost 1.46" PMOLED

OSD has released a new 1.46" 65k-color PMOLED display. The panel features the SSD1355UR8R1 driver IC.

The OSD128128P0427-21 is now shipping. A sample unit will cost you $15. If you buy a 1,000, each will be $7.90. Buying 5,000 or more will bring it down to $7.

4D Systems releases the Picaso-GFX2 graphics chip, supporting OLEDs and LCDs

4D Systems (one of OLED-Info's sponsors) announced a new graphics chip, the Picaso-GFX2. The chip is designed to work with all popular OLED and LCD panels in the market. 4DS says the new chip sports powerful graphic, text, image, animation and sound generation capabilities. It can be used stand-alone as an embedded graphics processor or as a co-processor to host a micro-controller through its hardware serial interface. 4D says it's plug and play and will work with most 16-bit 80 series color LCD and OLED displays.

4D Systems releases new range of graphic processors and display modules

OSD releases a new 0.96" 2 color PMOLED module

TDK and Futaba to co-develop PMOLED products

TDK announced that it will establish a new business alliance with Futaba - to develop new OLED products. This is actually a three-way alliance - between TDK, TDK Micro Devices (a wholly-owned TDK subsidiary) and Futaba Corporation. TDK has been working and producing PMOLED displays for quite some time, while Futaba is making vacuum fluorescent displays (VFD) and field emission displays (FED).

The new equity-based business alliance aims to develop new OLED products and open new markets (such as the automobile and consumer equipment industries).

OSD shipping samples of the new 5.5" wide PMOLED

OSD are now shipping samples of their new 5.5" PMOLED display (256x64 pixel), the OSD5664ASGGF01, announced in May 2009.

This monochrome OLED supports up to 16 levels of grayscale and features the Solomon Systech driver IC that supports 8-bit 6800/8080 Parallel or 3-/4-wire SPI data interface. Overall panel size is 146.0mm(H) x 45.0mm(V) x1.6mm(D). Viewing area is 135.65mm(H) x 33.89mm(V) mm.

Comprehensive review of 4D Systems OLED panels

Metku.net has posted a comprehensive review (that is sadly no longer available) of a couple of OLED modules (including a touch one) from 4D Systems. They like the panels, think they are very easy to use, but also notes that these are not the cheapest modules, of course, being OLED.
