More info on CMI's AMOLED panels shown at FPD China 2011

Last week we reported that Chimei Innolux are showing AMOLED panels at FPD China 2011 (which is good news as we're still not sure whether Chimei Innolux (CMI) is producing AMOLED panels or not). We now have more information on those panels. There are two panels on show: a 3.2" (320x480) and a 3.5" (360x64).

CMI are calling those displays TrueOLED, but apparantly they use a white-OLED with color filters design. This is the same method that was developed by Kodak (and now LG owns that technology). This includes a white subpixel (with no filter) to enhance brightness. Other features of those panels: 300cd/m2brightness, 30,000:1 contrast ratio, 160° viewing angles and 100% color gamut for the 3.2" panel (87% for the 3.5" one).

AUO adds a 3.5" AMOLED product to their site, production in Q2 2011

AUO now lists their first AMOLED product, a 3.5" display for mobile devices. The display features 360x640 resolution (0.12mm pixel pitch), 300 cd/m2 brightness, 10,000:1 contrast ratio and MIPI/CPU /RGB interfaces.

AUO has been making AMOLED before, actually, in 2006 but stopped in 2008, and now they are building a new AMOLED fab - a Gen-3.5 line in Taiwan that will have a monthly capacity of 7,000 substrates. AUO is also converting its Gen-4.5 LTPS line in Singapore to AMOLED production (this will have a monthly capacity of 45,000 sheets).

Winstar shows new 128x64 PMOLED modules, OLEDs for automobiles

Winstar is showing new graphic monochrome (yellow) PMOLED displays for automobiles. We do not have a lot of information yet (we're not sure if these are in production at all) besides this photo:

The company has also released 3 new monochrome yellow 128x64 PMOLED modules. Two modules are 2.4" in size (but one is with a bezel, and the other is without). The third module is 2.7" in size. All three modules have built-in SSD1305 driver IC and offer parallel (6800 or 8080), Serial SPI and I2C interfaces.

OSD releases new 256x64 16-level grayscale OLED modules

OSD Displays announces two new PMOLED modules with 256x64 resolution and 16-level gray scale. There's a blue (OSD25664P0908-10) module and a yellow one (OSD25664P0913-10). These modules support 7-bits per pixel PWM and offer compatibility with parallel, I2C, and SPI interfaces via a standard ZIF-style 0.5mm pitch flex interface. The display size is 84.0 x 25.8 x 2.0 mm outline dimensions.

Pricing for the new modules start at around $18 (for 1k orders).

OSD Displays announce a 1.5" resistive touch PMOLED display

OSD Displays announced a new 1.5" PMOLED display that has a resistive 4-wire touch panel. The full-color display offer 128x128 resolution and is under 3mm thick (including the touch panel).

OSD says that the new panel is great for switches and controls - due to its small size (it can fit in a 1U rack system). The panel offers several interfaces: 3/4 wire SPI, 8/16 bit CPU in both 6800 and 8080 type designs.
