Samsung Mobile Displays announced a new AMOLED panel, with WVGA (800x480) resolution at 300 PPI. SMD says that the new panel will be shipping in 2009.

SMD claims the new AMOLED has 4 times the clarity of their current displays and has a 40% increase in power efficiency (although it's not clear, they might mean 40% decrease in power consumption compared to an LCD panel...).
Here's the original news in Korean.

You're right of course, it's 40% decrease in consumption (or increase in efficiency...).
Fixed ;-)

"40% increase in power consumption" ???
The translated page says 40% improvement in power consumption. I don't think it's a step forward to use more power, or am I missing something :)
