United Radiant unveils new 50,000h PMOLEDs
United Radiant Technology is unveiling new PMOLED displays that feature an operating lifetime of 7,000 to 50,000 hours. These displays are designed for telecom, portable devices and signboard applications.
The UMOH-7492, UMOH-7493 and UMOH-7553 OLED displays feature low-power consumption, improved resolution and faster response times.
OSD introduces a new 16x2 character PLED display
OSD Displays announced a new PLED display, the OSD1602-3. This PMOLED panel is a monochrome 16x2 character display. The panel is compliant to the protocol of the LCD industry set by chipsets from Hitachi and Samsung.
The OSD1602-3 offers adjustable brightness to meet system needs. Pricing on the OSD1602-3 starts at $12 USD for sample quantities.
OSD sees a strong 2005 start, with OLEDs leading the demand
OSD Displays says that they are forecasting a strong start for 2005 - and will increase production capacity by 1.5 million panels per month. The two most popular displays (or at least those that are projected for fast growth) are the new 1.5" and 1.3" color PMOLED panels.
OSD also plans to introduce new 128x64 graphical PLED panels with interface standardization in Q4 2004 or Q1 2005.
Opto Tech: OLEDs to drive 4Q sales, not Nichia-branded LEDs
Opto Tech says that their PMOLED production yields have improved to over 60%, and the company is seeing stable growth in OLED orders. While analysts think that the company's strategic alliance with Japan-based Nichia to produce and sell blue LEDs will be the driving force for the company’s fourth quarter revenues, Opto Tech themselves claims it will be the improved OLED yields that push its revenues.

One Stop Displays announced a new 1.5" color PMOLED display. It's very thin (1.65 mm) - which makes it suitable for next-generation ID, security cards, and programmable card applications. The display features the new SSD1338 driver IC (which supports 262k colors).

Samsung readies wristwatch mobile phone
There are reports that Samsung are developing a new GSM/GPRS watch that has a 94x64 PMOLED display. The watch weighs less than 80 grams (including the battery) and will be released in 2004.
