LG Display had a large booth at SID, showcasing its latest OLED technologies. This was an impressive display with some beautiful screens, even though LGD did not actually demonstrate any new panels, and all those demonstrations were shown at CES 2016 in January.
So first up we have the 77" UHD HDR OLED TV, the Signature OLEDG6. This was the first time I saw this TV, and it was simply stunning. The TV won the best-of-show award at SID, and it was truly merited.
We had many meetings during the DisplayWeek, with many display professionals, and it seems that everybody (except maybe the quantum-dot folk) agreed that this was hands-down the best display at SID.
LG also demonstrated its concave 65" OLEDs. These were demonstrated before, and are quite immersive indeed. LG says it targets signage applications, but I would imagine gamers would really enjoy these displays. In the demonstration at the booth, LGD did indeed use a game clip for this display.
Another display on show was the dual-view 55" flat OLEDs. These 'commercial' OLEDs are targeted for signage applications too. LG already demonstrated these panels in September 2015, and hopefully these will be released soon.
Finally, we have LG's 12.3" Full-HD plastic-OLED panels for automotive applications. These has been shown many times before. LGD has been in talks with car makers for a long time regarding those panels. According to reports, Mercedes will adopt these panels in future E-Class cars. LGD is also in talks (or so it is claimed) with Tesla for the supply of OLED panels for future electric cars.
LG also had the same 55" FHD OLED panel as in CES 2016, with the same exact jewelry demonstration. Unfortunately I do not have a good photo or video of this display...
