Market analysts from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) estimate that the market for OLED deposition equipment will reach new heights in Q4 2016 and Q1 2017, followed by even more expanded spending in Q3 2017.
The OLED deposition (evaporation + printing) equipment spending will exceed $2.5 billion on 2017 - rising over 100% from 2016.
According to DSCC, Samsung will increase its OLED deposition equipment spending (mostly to its A2 and A3 flexible AMOLED fabs) by 25% in 2016. Other companies that will increase spending include Sharp, Japan Display, BOE, LG Display, Tianma, Visionox and Truly.
In 2015-2017, Samsung's OLED deposition spending represented around 45% of the total market, but this will fall to 20% in 2018-2019 as large number of players are expected to expand capacity.
