IHS sees rapid growth in AMOLED adoption - in phones, TVs, mobile PCs and near-eye applications

IHS say that the lower prices of AMOLEDs and the improvements in production is attracting more device makers to adopt AMOLED panels in their products. This leads to rapid increase in AMOLED shipments.

AMOLED shipments by application (2014-2016, IHS)

IHS sees 395 million AMOLEDs shipped in 2016 (this seems a bit optimistic) - an increase of 40% compared to 2015. Revenues will increase by 25% to reach $15 billion. AMOLED penetration in smartphone displays will rise from 17% in 2015 to 21% in 2016. IHS says that "AMOLED is becoming the shiniest spot in the flat-panel display industry".

IHS is also optimistic about the OLED TV market, and sees OLED TV shipments growing 125% in 2016 to 900,000 units. IHS sees AMOLED starting to penetrate the mobile PC market - to reach 8.6 million units in 2016 (up 63% from 2015). Finally, AMOLED will lead the near-eye display market (VR and AR) and this segment will grow 119% in 2016 to reach 3.6 million panels.

Last month UBI also estimated that the AMOLED market will reach a record $15 billion in revenues in 2016, but sees shipments at 270 million only. UBI expects the AMOLED market to grow with a CAGR of 46% between 2016 and 2020, to reach $67 billion.

Cannot see the graph well

Yes, it's a bit small... you can click on it to view a full-sized image.

"mobile pc" seems to equal "tablets" more or less; otherwise I wouldn't understand that large number.

Unfortunately the notebook market still won't see too large shipments this year, I guess.

Mobile PCs mean tablets and laptops and hybrid laptop-tablets. Currently AMOLEDs are only adopted in tablets indeed (with laptops and hybrids just starting in 2016)

Still too small if i do that

It's over 1000x600, should be enough. That's the best I've got, anyway.
