Look Labs launches a hoodie integrated with OLED lighting

Design house Look Labs announced a new product, a Hoodie called the omfy420 Metalight Hoodie that features the design house's CryptoPunk #5402, which is targeted for gamers who play Look Labs' own 420 game and can buy the hoodie from within the game and

The Hoodie features an Inuru's OLED lighting device which lights up the eyes of the figure in the hoodie. Inuru's OLEDispowered by an integrated thin-film battery that can be recharged wirelessly, and the whole system is washable and easy to integrate into textiles.

Researchers manage to fabricate a flexible OLED device using only a 3D printer

Researchers from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities managed to deposit flexible OLED devices using 3D printing. The whole OLED stack (including the electrodes, interconnects, insulation, and encapsulation) was printed using a table-top 3D printer (custom build, and reportedly costing like a Tesla Model S).



The researchers used the new method to create a low-cost flexible OLED display of sort, made from relatively large pixels (see video above). The whole panel is 1.5 x 1.5 inch in size, with 64 pixels. The team is now working to improve the density of the process.

Samsung Display officially launches its QD-OLED panels at CES 2022

We already know that Samsung Display is starting to produce QD-OLED panels, and the first products have already been announced: Sony's A95K QD-OLED TV and Dell's and Samsung's 34" QD-OLED monitors.

It is great to see Samsung Display officially announce its QD-OLED panel lineup at CES 2022. The company is indeed producing three kinds of panels, 55" and 65" 4K panels for TVs and wide 34" panels for monitors. SDC says it will start mass producing the panels "in the first half of 2022".

OLEDON developed a curved plane-source FMM technology that can be used to produce direct-emission 10,000 PPI OLED microdisplays

OLEDON says that it has developed a new curved plane-source evaporation shadow mask process that can be used for OLED microdisplay fabrication, with a potential density of 10,000 PPI (minimum shadow distance of 0.18um). Using this technology it will be possible to create direct-emission microdisplays.

LGD installs transparent OLEDs at one of the lines of the Moscow Metro

In February 2019 LG Display started producing its 55" FHD 38% transparent commercial OLED displays, and the company recently announced several projects that utilize its 55" transparent OLED displays.



One of these projects is the installation of transparent OLEDs on subway train windows in China - in Beijing and Shenzhen. We now learn that the Moscow Metro has launched a pilot project, in which transparent OLED displays were installed in the windows of the cars on the Line 7 of the Moscow Metro.

LG Display shows how it sees the future of shopping powered by OLEDs

LG Display is showcasing how OLED technology can change the shopping malls of the future. At LG's Science Park in Seoul's Magok district, the company build a show room with some nice OLED demonstrations.

First up are the glass doors to the show room, which have four 55-inch transparent OLEDs embedded in them. The next demonstration is the Smart Stall, which embed OLED electronic shelf labels and large-area OLED TV panels.

Samsung Display demonstrates a 13-inch stretchable AMOLED display

Samsung Display has demonstrated a new stretchable AMOLED display. The 13-inch panel (we do not know the resolution) was shown in a unique 3D demo.

The idea behind the demo is that the panel reacts to the video content (flowing lava), so it changes the height of parts of the screens to make the experience more realistic, a sort of volumetric display.
