Amazon UK reveals price and release dates of 4 new Samsung AMOLED digital cameras

Amazon UK has just added 4 new Samsung digital cameras, all with AMOLED displays. 3 Of them we already know about: The CL80 (ST5500 in the UK), the HZ35W (WB650 in the UK) and the NX10. There's another one called WB2000, which wasn't revealed before.

  • The HZ35W/WB650 will be released on February 2, for £299.99. It has a built-in GPS with geo-tagging capabilities, a 12mp sensor, 15x optical zoom and a 3" AMOLED.
  • The will be released on March 15, for £349.99. It has a 14mp sensor, 7X optical zoom and Wi-Fi (through which you can instantly-upload to flickr, facebook, photobox or picasa. It also has a 3.7" WVGA touch AMOLED.
  • The NX10 will be released on March 15, for £599.99. The NX10 is a hybrid DSLR, with a 14.6mp APS-C sensor and new NX-type lens mount. It has a 3" OLED display.
  • The WB2000 will be released on May 24 for £329.99. It has a 10mp sensor, 5X optical zoom and a 3" OLED screen.

The HTC Bravo (with a 3.7" AMOLED) to ship in March?

In December 2009, HTC's roadmap leaked, and there were two OLED phones in there, the Bravo and the Legend. Now we hear that the Bravo will be released in March in Sweden. The Bravo has a 3.7" WVGA touch AMOLED (854x480) display, it's running the Android-OS on a 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU, and is capable of 720p HD video recording. It has Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 5mp camera.

Samsung announces a 7" AMOLED digital photo frame

Samsung has announced a new product, the 700Z digital photo frame. It has a 7" AMOLED display. This is the largest OLED Samsung has commercialized to date, and it's great news. They haven't said when it'll be released, or how much it'll cost.

This is not the first large OLED photo frame. Back in 2008 Kodak has released their own 7.6" digital wireless frame, using CMEL's OLED panels. Kodak's frame costs around 800$ (but seems to be out of stock). Hopefully Samsung will have a lower price...

Samsung announces the world's first product with a transparent OLED, the IceTouch MP3 player

Samsung has announced the new IceTouch MP3 player that sports a 2" full-color Transparent OLED. This is an exciting announcement, we didn't know Samsung was so close to making this technology commercially available. The player will be released in the first half of 2010. Samsung say that the AMOLED screen casing is constructed using a dual-injection molding process and tempered glass and results in a smooth, durable and scratch-proof surface.

Beside the cool transparent display, the IceTouch comes with 8/16GB of memory, has a strong CPU and Samsung's TouchWiz Sweep interface. It has 5.1-channel sound enhancement technology and it continually analyzes and adjusts audio levels to reflect the producer’s intended sound.

New Apple tablet rumors say that the device will actually be an e-reader

There are some new rumors that Apple's new device will actually be marketed primarily as an e-reader. It makes sense that Apple will want to enter the e-reader market now, when it's starting to take off.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of display will be chosen for such a device. Almost all e-readers use e-paper displays which are very efficient and great on the eye. But they are monochrome (although color ones are expected in 2010) and have slow refresh rate. If Apple wants this device to be used as an internet tablet too, they'll have to choose another display type. Obviously we're hoping for the first Apple OLED product...
