Pixelligent Technologies entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) with an aim to optimize the formulation for ORNL’s roll-to-roll process for OLED lighting devices.
Pixelligent says that this agreement will allow them to further optimize materials and formulations to demonstrate improved performance and cost for OLED lighting roll-to-roll processes. This project also gives Pixelligent access to the state-of-the-art facilities and world class expertise at ORNL.
According to Pixelligent, their materials are suited to both dramatically increase refractive index for greater light output as well as facilitate integration into low cost manufacturing technologies. The company launched their PixClear product line in March 2013 and is now working with several of the world’s leading chemical and electronic materials companies to integrate those materials into commercial products.
In January 2014, Pixelligent Technologies was awarded a $150,000 nine-month SBIR Phase I grant by the DoE to accelerate the development of its nanoadditives for use in OLED lighting in collaboration with OLEDWorks.
