Toshiba portable OLED Lamp 2011

Toshiba's portable OLED lamp is a prototype, but the company will make 100 units of this lamp and donate these to quake-hit areas in Japan. Toshiba has no plans to sell these to consumers. The lamps run from either four AAA alkaline batteries or from the embedded rechargeable battery - and Toshiba bundle the lamp with a solar-panel (it can also be recharged via a USB port).

The lamp measure 146x100x18.5mm (at the thickest part) and weight 180g without the batteries. There are no details about the OLED panel itself, which is made by Toshiba. We only know that lamp brightness is 53 lm (similar to a desk lamp) with 100% brightness, it can be dimmed to 30% or 10%.

OSRAM Airabesc

The Airabesc is an OLED/LED hybrid lamp. Here's how OSRAM describe the design: "As if modeled by the wind ('Air'), the elements of the reduced, symmetrical aluminum form seem to be floating in the air. Despite the structure's flowing lightness and harmony which are inspired by the arabesque, a ballet position, the biomorphic shape casts its spell on the observer".

The Airabesc is hand-made from premium materials in Germany and provides warm atmospheric light. The lamp length is 81cm, the width is 30cm and the height is 10cm. It contains 11 ORBEOS (RMW-046) rectangle panels and 6 LEDs (OSLON LCW CQ7P.CC). The power consumption is about 16W. The lamp comes in black, white or polished aluminum. It will be shipping in July 2011 (no pricing info yet).

Benwirth Licht Cluster+

Cluster+ is a modular OLED/LED lamp by German design firm Benwirth Licht. The lamp uses both LEDs and OLEDs (OSRAM's ORBEOS panels, in fact) to create unique designs. The idea is that you can arrange the lamp in whatever design you want, and so use it as a chandelier, desk lamp, wall lamp and any other arrangement you can think of.

The basic building block is a square that contains either one circular ORBEOS OLED panel or four LEDs. The square block is about 5 square inches in size (and less than 1/8 of an inch thick).
