OLEDNet posted an article detailing the OLED technologies LG Display will showcase at CES 2017 in two days. LGD's most innovative displays will be a rollable 77" OLED TV panel and a double-sided UHD 77" display. LGD was also supposed to showcase a rollable OLED TV in CES 2016 - hopefully this time the company will actually show such a display in public.

In addition to those 77" displays, LGD will also showcase a 55" transparent FHD OLED. LGD demonstrated a similar display at CES 2016, but hopefully this new display will be closer to commercialization and maybe LGD will indeed detail such plans at CES. OLEDNet says that the new transparent display will feature improved colors and more natural image quality.

Lenovo has unveiled a VR headset prototype that is based on Microsoft's Windows Holographic platform. The headset uses two 1440x1440 AMOLED displays and weighs just 350 grams (100 grams less than the Oculus Rift).

Lenovo aims to ships this product later in 2017, and the price will be relatively competitive at "less than $400".

A couple of weeks ago, at IDW 2016, AU Optronics introduced a new bi-directional foldable AMOLED display. This display can be bent both inwards and upwards, unlike previous foldable AMOLED prototypes which can only be bent in one direction.

AUO says that the AMOLED structure limits the flexibility, and to overcome this the company replaced the circular polarizer usually used with a thin (10um) color filter array (apparently this is an WRGB display). AUO also used specially-located TFT and TFE (encapsulation) layers that endure many folding cycles - AUO says that the display can be bent more than 1.2 million times in 4mm curvature radius. The entire display thickness is 100 um.

Samsung announced the Galaxy A-series family of fashionable phones. The 2017 editions all come with Super AMOLED displays, premium metal frame and 3D glass back.

There are three new A-series phones: the Galaxy A3 (4.7" 720p), the Galaxy A5 (5.2" FHD) and the Galaxy A7 (5.5" FHD). All three will ship towards the end of January in Russia - and later on globally.

Yesterday we posted about LG's upcoming Wallpaper OLEDW7 TV launch at CES 2017, and today it turns out that LG Electronics is also launching a similar wallpaper TV for its commercial OLED signage range.

LG's model number for its Wallpaper Signage OLED TV is 55EJ5C-B (at least in the UK). This TV uses a 55" FHD panel (which is quite disappointing - I would have expected a 4K one!). LG already lists the TV in its UK and HK sites and also published the installation video above. MidWich.com also lists the price of this panel - £5,599 (almost $7,000 USD).
