Samsung Electronics says Q2 2016 was better than expected

Samsung Electronics posted its earning guidance for Q2 2016 - and results are better than expected. Samsung says that revenues rose 3% from a year ago, and profit jumped 17% higher.

According to analysts, sales of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phones have been better than expected, and the new phones has higher profit margins compared to Samsung's previous generation flagships. Some estimate that Samsung sold more S7 edge phones than regular S7 phones - and the edge variants have higher margins.

Everdisplay unveiles the specification of its latest wearable AMOLEDs

A few weeks ago Everdisplay demonstrated several AMOLED prototypes, including some new displays such as a 0.95" square AMOLED and a 1.2" circular one.

In a recent tradeshow, Everdisplay demonstrated these new displays, but now the company unveiled the specifications of its new panels. The 0.95" square AMOLED features a resolution of 180x120 (228 PPI), a thickness of 0.5 mm and a luminance of 350 nits. The 1.2" circular panel is 390x390 (326 PPI), 0.4 mm thick and with the same luminance of 350 nits.

Kateeva's Korea VP: SDC to start printing OLED TVs in 2018

OLED Ink-Jet developer Kateeva presented at an industry conference in Korea, and the company's Korean branch VP states that the company will supply OLED TV deposition system prototypes later this year to customers in Korea, China and Japan.

Even more interesting is his statement that commercial mass production printers will be deployed in Samsung Display's OLED production lines in two years. Usually Kateeva refrains from discussing customers like that. This will enable Samsung to produce OLED TVs cost effectively - and compete with LG Display on this market.

LG lowers the price of the curved 65" 4K OLEDC6 to $3,799

In the past few weeks LG kept lowering the price of its 2016 OLED TVs, to the point that I'm feeling these posts are repeating themselves... but it's good news for consumers. LG now reduced the price of its 65" curved 4K OLEDC6 to $3,799. The 55" OLEDC6 still costs $2,799.

LG's OLED C6 is a series of curved 4K smart OLED TVs introduced in 2016, that feature LG's webOS 3.0, Color Prime PRO technology and HDR. The C6 series are LG's basic-level OLED TVs for 2016 (together with the flat OLEDB6).
