The display features the Solomon Systech driver IC that supports 8-bit 6800/8080 Parallel or 3-/4-wire SPI data interface. Overall panel size is 146.0mm(H) x 45.0mm(V) x1.6mm(D). Viewing area is 135.65mm(H) x 33.89mm(V) mm. The OSD Displays OLED panel offers 120cd/m2 typical brithness, 160 degrees vieweing angle) and high contrast ratio (>2000:1), over a wide temperature range from -30C to +70C with less than 500mW typical power consumption.

Japanese Researchers Double Green Phosphorescent OLED Efficiency

A research group from the Kanazawa
Institute of Technology in Japan succeeded in making an green phospor-based OLED achieving a very high
light-emitting efficiency of 210lm/W (56.9% more efficient than existing OLEDs).

The OLED is a bottom-emission type on a 0.7mm-thick glass plate.

The material for the device's light-emitting layer is a host material called "CBP" added with an iridium complex, "Ir(ppy)3." Its light emission peak lies in the range of wavelengths between 500 and 550nm, which corresponds to green color.

When emitting light at a luminance of 10cd/m2, it has a
light-emitting efficiency of 210lm/W and a light-extraction efficiency
of 56.9%. On the other hand, when emitting light without the
high-refractive glass plate, its light-emitting efficiency is only
94.3lm/W. This means the glass plate boosted the light-extraction
efficiency by 2.3 times.

Now it's official - Toshiba bought our Panasonic's stake in TMDisplay, will focus on OLEDs

Toshiba announced today that it bought Panasonic's stake in TMDisplay, for 20.3M$. TMDisplay is expected to report a loss of 300M$, on sales of 2.7B$ in 2008.

Toshiba will change the name from Toshiba-Matsushita displays to Toshiba Mobile displays (still TMDisplay...). It will also focus on OLED displays.

Earlier in 2008, TMDisplay said they will spend 140M$ on new production lines for AMOLEDs, making 1M 2.5" panels a month. TMDisplay are working on high-efficiency and lifetime panels.

eMagin reports record earnings, retires debt, working on greater-than-HDTV resolution microdisplays

eMagin, makers of OLED microdisplays, reported financial results for 2008 Q4.Revenus were 5.3M$ - a record for eMagin. They also retired all of its long term debt in December, 2008.

eMagin is improving their yield, and have achieved positive EBITDA.

eMagin has received notification of funding for more than $8 million for contract R&D programs to be executed through 2010. The programs assist in the development of power efficient microdisplays for night vision and for greater than HDTV resolution displays for training and simulation.
