Omdia: large-area OLED panel shipments to frow 116.5% in 2024, and 32.7% in 2025

Omdia estimates that shipments of OLEDs over 9-inch in size (which Omdia defines as large-area OLEDs, although most companies will refer to these sizes as medium-sized OLEDs) will increase 116.5% in 2024, and will rise a further 32.7% in 2025.

This growth is driven by increasing demand for OLED monitors, tablets and laptops.

Omdia says that LG Display and Samsung Display are increasingly focusing on the production of monitor OLED panels to offset declines in the OLED TV display segment. Chinese makers, meanwhile, are ramping up production of OLED displays for tablets and notebooks. Of course, Apple's adoption of OLEDs in the 2024 iPad Pro devices are boosting Tablet OLED shipments.

In an interesting analysis, Omdia says that global PC makers, due to geopolitical issues, are looking to reduce their reliance on Chinese-made LCD panels and are so moving to adopt OLED panels, produced in Korea.
