Two research groups show that it is possible to produce a high-performance pure blue MR-TADF OLED emitter without the need for an assistant dopant

Researchers from the Universities of St. Andrews, Kyoto and Kyushu have coincidentally developed state-of-the-art multi-resonant TADF (MR-TADF) OLED emitters, based on a helical boron-nitrogen-oxygen doped nanographene design.

In these multiple studies, the researchers have shown that it is possible to obtain deep blue, narrowband emission, very fast reverse intersystem crossing rates constants, and high-efficiency vacuum-deposited OLEDs.

China's small-to-medium OLED production surpasses Korea's for the first time

According to Sino Research, in the first quarter of 2024, small-to-medium AMOLED production in China surpassed the production in Korea, by shipments, for the first time. China's market share was 53.9%, an increase from 44.9% in Q4 2023.

The leading producer is still Samsung Display, with a 41% market share (down from 53.3% last year). BOE has a market share of 17%, Visionox 12%, CSoT 10%, Tianma 9% and LGD 6%. The mean reason for the rise in China production and a decline in Korea's is lower shipments to Apple and an increase in the adoption of OLEDs in Chinese smartphones.

Vivo's mid-range V30e smartphone offers a 6.78" 120Hz 1300 nits 1080x2400 AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB of storage and a microSDXC card slot.

The V30e will start shipping soon in India, starting at around $350.

Universal Display reports excellent financial results for Q1 2024

Universal Display announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2024. Total revenues were $165.3 million (up from $130.5 million in Q1 2023), and a net income of $56.9 million (up from $39.8 million).

UDC says it seas meaningful growth opportunities across several verticals: the IT display market, TVs, smartphones, and foldable phones. UDC raised the lower end of its guidance for 2024, now it believes it will be in the range of $635 million to $675 million.
