Fluxim releases a new software tool to simulate large area OLED panels
Switzerland-based R&D tools provider Fluxim released a new simulation tool called Laoss. Laoss is aimed specifically for large area organic electronic devices - such as large OLED display and lighting panels and perovskite solar cells.
The Laoss software is used to design optimal electrode lay-outs of any shape with and without current carrying grids. Fluxim says that a carefully designed electrode layout avoids non-uniformities that arise due to the resistance of the electrode and charge injecting layers. Laoss tool can be used in combination with Fluxim’s Setfos software to design the layer stack of the OLED/PV device as well as with results from the Paios measurement platform.
UBI: WOLED Technology to lead the premium TV market
UBI Research says that WOLED technology will lead the premium TV market from 2020 onwards. LCD will not be able to match the performance of OLED TVs at the high-end of the TV market, and solution-based OLED TVs and QD TVs will find it hard to penetrate the market as WOLED technology is one step ahead in commercialization.
According to UBI, in 2016 OLED TVs will grab a 16.7% share of the global premium TV market. In 2020, OLED TVs will lead that market with a 68.1% share.
Did Panasonic demonstrate large transparent OLED displays?
Panasonic demonstrated a new transparent display, showing several use cases for this technology - in wine refrigerators, in living room cabinets and more.
According to reports, this is Panasonic's 2nd gen transparent displays. The first generation displays were LCD (LED) based displays, but the company was not happy with the quality of the display and the low transparency. Changing to an OLED display resulted in better transparency and great images - virtually indistinguishable from non transparent TVs.
DisplayMate: LG's latest OLED TVs are "virtually perfect", the best TV ever tested
Our friends from DisplayMate posted an in-depth shootout of LG's 2016 OLED TV, the 65" 4K OLEDE6. DisplayMate finds this new TV to perform "exceptionally well" - in fact this TV offers an image quality that is "Visually Indistinguishable from Perfect". This is unquestionably the best performing TV ever tested at DisplayMate.
LG's OLED TV breaks many TV display performance records at DisplayMate: including the highest absolute color accuracy, the lowest screen reflectance , the highest absolute luminance accuracy, and the highest contrast ratio with perfect Black Levels of any TV ever tested. Almost all tests showed improvement over LG's 2015 OLED TVs.
